“Nerio of Concept Plastering is a treasure. He arrives when planned and works steadily, planning what is needed for each day.He supplies all of his own scaffolding, lighting and heating. Our Victorian house, with its solid plaster, had suffered badly during the drought and afterwards as the rains swelled the clay base on which it is built, so it was a great challenge for Nerio’s dedication and ingenuity.
Plastering, by definition, is a dusty, messy job but Nerio, always having our comfort in mind, took elaborate precautions to minimise dust invasion by sealing doors and, in our case, choosing to come and go via a builder’s plank through the bay window. As a result we could live in the house while he restored our front room and entire central passage way.
But the salient point is that Nerio is a craftsman who takes great pride in his work, setting himself astoundingly high standards. From long and varied experience he understands the nature of plasterwork and paces his interventions accordingly. His unique method of removing the cracked plaster along with a margin on each side has so far prevented any further cracks in our rooms. We were thrilled when he offered to repair the ceiling rose which had suffered over its 130 year lifespan. He did a marvellous job which was the finishing touch to a masterly renovation.

“I employed Concept Plastering to repair a water-damaged ceiling and to finish the subsequent painting required to complete the job. Our house is 110 years old so it’s hard to make the repair fit in naturally with the existing plasterwork.

I’m just sending a couple of comments regarding the great job that Nerio from Concept Plastering did when working at my house. We had a water damaged ceiling that Nerio came to repair that required the whole ceiling to be replaced. In doing the job he was very thorough: removing insulation and replacing it as new boards went up; keeping the area very clean and not allowing dust into the rest of the house; and going to a great effort to match the style of ceiling roses, cornices and ceiling finishes with others in the home. If anyone is looking for a very professional and true tradesman in his craft I couldn’t recommend Nerio highly enough. I have other jobs in mind and he’ll by my first and only call.

Nerio was commissioned to do several jobs during our renovation in 2009. He patched cracks in our internal brick walls in the old part of our house (Art Deco double brick home, circa 1938) which had moved considerably during the drought. He also had to pull down and re-brick the worst offending wall – it had a crack about 4-5cm wide in parts . Almost three years on, there isn’t a sign at all that the cracks or Nerio were ever here.
Nerio also had to patch exterior cracks along the front of our house, this also looks great.
Finally, Nerio had to apply an art-deco texture to the walls in the main living space where the new renovation occurred. This plastering has been done so well you wouldn’t know where the old house ends and the new begins. It’s perfect.
I cannot recommend Nerio highly enough. His work is fantastic and he was a pleasure to deal with.
